About
Welcome to the vibrant world of Gringo’s Mexican Kitchen in Texas City, where the rich flavors of Mexico meet the spirited essence of Tex-Mex cuisine. Nestled conveniently at 10200 Emmett F Lowry Expy, this delightful eatery promises a culinary experience that tantalizes the taste buds while inviting you to embrace the lively atmosphere.
Known for their fantastic Taco Family Meal, featuring a dozen tacos complemented by your choice of beans, Mexican rice, fresh salsa, and queso, you'll find yourself immersed in flavor for just $54.99. The Enchilada Family Meal serves up a similar delight with a dozen meticulously crafted enchiladas, ensuring there's something for everyone to relish.
One of the highlights during my visit was the Pollo El Dorado, a beautiful grilled chicken breast topped with a creamy chipotle mixture of sausage, spinach, and mushrooms for $18.39. The dish was a testament to the kitchen's attention to detail, harmonizing textures and tastes that were both comforting and exciting. For a robust flavor that embodies the heart of Tex-Mex, the Bandera Enchiladas, filled with braised beef short rib and drenched in salsa, are a must-try at $19.99.
The vibrant atmosphere is amplified by their stellar drink selection. The Cadillac Rita, a signature margarita crafted with Camarena Reposado tequila, is an indulgent way to toast to good company, priced at $14.00. For a unique twist, do not miss the Mangonada, a frozen mango treat that marries sweet and tangy for $16.00.
Positive reviews from patrons speak volumes about the restaurant’s commitment to quality and service. Customer experiences have highlighted friendly staff and mouthwatering dishes, like the tender and flavorful chicken fajitas. Some diners did note variability in dish freshness, allowing room for improvement, yet the overall sentiment remains upbeat. As Jeremy Martin noted, the excellent service and flavors make Gringo's a friendly go-to spot.

“ Really enjoyed eating here. The only sort of negative thing I would dare say is that a lot of dishes have cilantro which I cant eat. But talking with the server I found something I could eat . The fajitas were excellent. Tender, flavorful, not dry meat. Good service, friendly staff. ”
“ Great restaurant. Good service. The chips and salsa are great. The enchiladas were okay but a bit mushy and did not taste very fresh. They were mushy. Chicken fajitas were fantastic. Good price great service. ”
“ This is a go-to restaurant in the area. Their food is excellent and their service staff is always on the ball. I strongly recommend joining their program and using call ahead seating. The place is popular enough that you will have a wait unless you choose to take advantage are there call ahead Reserve plan. Good food good service convenient location ”
“ Had a great lunch here! Server was awesome! She was friendly and had a great sense of humor. Food was so flavorful and fresh, overpriced but what Tex-mex isn’t? They did have a few affordable items on the menu. Music was a little loud but we know how to talk louder. Overall, our visit was great! ”
“ Loved the food! The service was excellent! My son and I had a great time at dinner. Will return! ”
“ I loved the renovations. Everything looks great. The food and service were as great as ever. Natalie was an awesome waitress. I ordered the Plato Solado because portions go to Veterans groups. Now to the bad part. There was a large group in the restaurant at the same time we were there. They were very loud. To the point of them screaming. A few couples requested to be re-seated because of it. Props to the manager for coming to their table and asking them to quiet down and apologizing to the rest of the guests. Unfortunately, it only lasted a short time. The group was back to being loud again. It's been a year of so since I've been to this location simply because the restaurant has become a madhouse. This is not a bar. This is a family restaurant. Maybe Gringos needs to hire police as security again? I love Gringos family of restaurants, and will much rather go down the road a little further and eat at Jimmy Changas. Much better atmosphere. I will never return to this restaurant again. Gringos, you need to gain control of your restaurant, before it really costs you money, if it hasn't already. ”
“ Can’t wait to come back! Queso, margaritas, tacos and salad were amazing- kids typical chicken and fries were ok ”
“ First time here with a co-worker. Our waitress is really nice and super friendly. Very respectful and had a positive attitude even though the place was busy during lunch time. Typical Mexican restaurant. Nothing extraordinary but would definitely go back ”
